The Sultan’s Magic Fruit Ale

Early myths purport the first uses of coffee as the consumption of “Magical Fruit,” as the berries that were eaten provided an extra special kick that put the pep in the step to anyone who ate it.  With this theory in mind, our Pub Brewer Ben teamed up with Kiosk extraordinaire Ahmet Anil Yuksel (who hails from Turkey) to brew a dark and delicious brew using famous Turkish coffee to create a roasty and slightly caffeinated brew, deemed The Sultan’s Magic Fruit Ale.  Ahmet enlisted his brother to smuggle some of the authentic stuff from the homeland, and then Mahlab spice was added for an extra layer of complexity.  Mahlab, the ground up pits of the Prunus  Mahaleb cherry, is traditionally used in confectionaries as spice that adds delicate almond character with slight notes of powdered sugar.  The result is a deep dark ale with notes of fresh ground coffee and a unique nutty character.  Served on our Nitro line, The Sultan will have a creamy smooth mouthfeel with a dense creamy head.
