Sticks in the Middle

'STICKS IN THE MIDDLE!' A traditional phrase in the world of pick-up ice hockey, it means 'It's game time!' After warming up, someone yells 'sticks in the middle,' and all players must throw their sticks toward the center of the ice. The sticks are then divided and each is tossed towards one of the goals. When all players find their sticks, they discover who's on their teams and the game begins!

A crisp and earthy pilsner, Sticks in the Middle was brewed by co-workers Dan and Mark, and Dogfish Head founder and CEO Sam Calagione, and was inspired by Sam's childhood memories of playing pick-up ice hockey on a pond near his house in Greenfield, Massachusetts! Brewed from pilsner malt that's been smoked over Canadian cedar and French caramel pilsner malts - sustainably harvested by our pals at Valley Malting Company whose facility is less than 20 miles from the pond where Sam grew up playing ice hockey - Sticks in the Middle boasts smokey, bready and malty sweet flavors, and throws just a hint of woodsyness. Lightly hazy and yellow straw in color, it was continually hopped with French Aramis hops and then finished with a big charge of Czech Saaz and American Crystal hops. It's light-bodied, refreshing and full of nostalgia, and you've got to try it!

So, what are you waiting for?! 'STICKS IN THE MIDDLE,' or should we say ... 'It's beer time!'
