Pomegranita is a sessionable sour ale inspired by Sicilian Granita, a tart, citrus-based dessert. To make this fruit-filled brew, we took a base blonde sour beer and fermented it with baskets of the fruits you would find in a Mediterranean market: pomegranates, blood oranges and raspberries. We then replaced the dessert's traditional sprig of mint with a touch of lemon balm and added a dash of pomegranate molasses for just a bit of red wine complexity. The result is tart and refreshing with jammy berry flavors, crisp citrus, a subtle herbal-mint note and a touch of sweetness to round it all out. Trust us ... there's still enough residual summer heat to pair with this quaffable quencher!
