Mr Bean is a Brown Porter aged on Costa Rican organic coffee beans roasted by our friends at Notting Hill Roastery in Lewes and freshly pulled Brown Honey Rum oak chips from our distillery just above the brewhouse. This light coffee bean hued porter was brewed with a couple of English old-world style malts that are not terribly common in modern brewing: Thomas Fawcett & Sons Brown and Amber malts. These malts on their own add a rich freshly ground coffee roasty quality to beers. This quality is further enhanced by an actual dry hop (or bean) addition to the fermenter of freshly roasted Organic Costa Rican Tarrazu coffee beans. Then Brown Honey Rum Oak chips, pulled fresh out of one our Rum aging tanks were allowed to drip dry before being added to the beer along with the coffee to add subtle notes of rum and vanilla. Carbonated with a blend of Nitrogen and Carbon Dioxide, this perfect breakfast beer will be poured from our Nitro tap for a purely divine creamy mouthfeel. Finally, we pulled 10 gallons of Mr. Bean and cask conditioned it in a Firkin with Cocoa Nibs, chopped Bourbon Vanilla beans, and Mexican Canela cinnamon. This special limited cask will be tapped on the same day as the beer and will be poured from our handpump until it’s all gone.
Mr Bean will be tapped on Friday, May 2, 2014 and will be around until it is all gone. Due to limited availability, our Brewpub Exclusive beers are not available for growler fills.
