Black Hole IPA

Black Hole IPA is the second batch to make it to the pub from our co-worker Small Batch Brewing program.  Every quarter co-workers are challenged to create and brew a beer on our 10 gallon Sabco Brew Magic system up at our Milton brewery.  After an informal judging, the winning beer for each quarter is brewed at the pub, with the highest scoring beer of the year winning a trip to Eataly in NYC for its creators.  This program is geared toward getting co-workers who don’t normally work on the brewing side of the biz to get their hands a little dirty and express themselves through unique ingredients and processes to create individualistic and creative concoctions.

This one is the brainchild John Alvis and Trey Bowden, our off-centered IT techs, along with Jon Dolor and Matt King, two of our resident engineers.  Black Hole derives its name from the color and style of their brew, along with single hop variety employed – Galaxy.  The color of this otherworldly IPA is as black as the outer reaches of space, with an intense flavor of fresh cut grass and pungent citrus rind.  If you like hops, this one’s for you.  Despite the IBU’s on this intense ale, a dark chocolate and sweet espresso maltiness balances the extreme hoppiness with a smooth creamy finish.

Black Hole IPA goes on tap Friday, 9/7/12 and will be around until it is gone.

Due to limited availability, our Brewpub Exclusive beers are not available in growlers.
