Intergalactic Bocce - West Coast Style

Saturday, June 18, 2011

The sixth annual Dogfish West Coast Intergalactic Bocce Tournament was a whole lot of fun. This year we held the tournament in San Diego and mother nature complied with perfect sunny breezy weather. The teams all brought their A game and dressed to the nines. Our Dogfish teamed fearlessly showed a lot of leg as we went as super-patriotic USA Cheerleaders.

At different times our team faced off against Beer Garden Gnomes, Sixties Love Children, and Eighties Aerobic Freaks. We didnt win many of our matches but we had a blast and ate and drank very well. The taps flowed freely and great warm weather beers like Festina Peche and 60 Minute IPA through a Randall stuffed with kumquats slaked many a freakily-dressed beer-enthusiasts thirst.

Mad props to Dogfishs own Mark Carter and Bryant Goulding for herding all us cats and the gang from Crest who did an amazing job as our host distributor. It was an awesome, albeit informal, get together of beer-centric enthusiasts, restaurateurs, bar owners, brewers, and distributors chatting about the business of and our shared loved for craft beer while throwing balls and cheering/jeering each other on. Im very proud that Dogfish is part of this community and that we are moving the craft beer renaissance forward shoulder-to-shoulder. Together we are heavy. When the dust cleared the last team standing was Orange Countys very own The Bruery. Check out the photo of the post-victory Ballast Point Rum celebratory round of shots team-Bruery shared with Mike from Pizza Port.

I am very stoked for next years west coast extravaganza it will be held in the late spring 2012 in Los Angeles. Our host distributor will be Harbor. We made a side bet with their team at this years event and Im proud to announce the Dogfish team won the right to pick out the uniforms for Team Harbor as they lost that game. Suffice to say they will be showing A LOT of skin next year. We'll post sign-up details for the 2012 Tourney on www.dogfish.com when we're ready.

Cheers.
