Sunday, May 2nd is approaching... faster than a freight train.

What's that mean??? Tough Mudder!!!

Tough Mudder Promo Shot

Dogfish Head is the proud post-race party sponsor for this sure-to-be-fantastic event billed as "the TOUGHEST one day event on the planet."

This isn't your average mud run. The Tough Mudder is a 7 mile obstacle course designed by British Special Forces to test all around toughness, strength, stamina, fitness, camaraderie, and mental grit. Forget about race times. Simply completing the event is a badge of honor. Not everyone will finish, but those who do make it to the post-race party will have truly earned the right to call themselves a Tough Mudder (and they'll get a Dogfish beer!).

It's not enough for us to simply provide beer for this event (even though it supports the Wounded Warrior Project - a great cause), we have two 4-person teams representin' for us!

Team 1 consists of Trey Bowden (our own I.T. beefcake), Jesse Prall (brewer extraordinairre), Kyle Howard (brewery tour guide) and Mark Carter (our donation dude and event guru).

Team 2 is made up of three friends of the brewery from Quest Fitness in nearby Lewes, DE (they'd be Matt Carter, Aaron Hood and Aymi Wyatt) and Chris Wood (another brewer extraordinairre). Both Dogfish teams will start in the first wave at 11 AM. If you are there, Cheer them on!!!So, are our peeps ready?

We chatted a few of them up in the past few days and here's what they had to say:

Trey:

What are your expectations for the event? - Its gonna be tough for surebut as long as we work together as a team and motivate one another, we will make it through the finish line.

Doing any training? Training 4 5 days a week, weights and some cardio.

Anything else you want to say???? Im just starting to get back to normal from my injuriesI have been dealing with sciatica AND rotator cuff issues for the last 9 months, so Im looking forward to being in this eventits good to really be active again!

Jesse:

What are your expectations for the event? - Hope I don't puke.

Doing any training? Running, biking, pushups and pull-ups.

Anything else you want to say???? Tell my wife and son I love them!

Matt:

What are your expectations for the event? - Just another day in the mudd, crawling under barb wire, jumping off cliffs. Nothing exciting.

Doing any training? Off trail running, sloshing thru ponds, sand dunes. Rain will never be a factor again in cancelling a workout.

Anything else you want to say???? I'm already sick of finding ticks and chiggers in some uncomfortable areas.

Aymi:

What are your expectations for the event? - Survive! I always like to challenge myself, so I figured trying to keep up with seven guys through snow, water, mud, and up many hills would suffice.

Doing any training? Just ran my first half-marathon to support the Lower Delaware Austism Foundation. I get my butt kicked on a weekly basis at Quest by teammate/trainer extraordinaire, Matt. I try to go to hot yoga once a week as well. Last and most important...I have to eat well, because everyone always watches what the dietitian eats.

Anything else you want to say???? Thank you to all of our troops. And thank you to Dogfish Head...won't you please have a Life and Limb waiting for me?

So... go teams!!! And thanks for representin' (so the rest of us don't have to)!

We'll let you know how it goes....
