Here's the offical press release.....

MONDIAL DE LA BIÈRE 2007:

A voyage of flavourscrowned with success!

(Montréal, June 3 2007) – The largest international beer festival in North America and the first big festival of the Montréal summer,

la bière

were able to discover aromas and flavours from around the globe. Festival organizers were very upbeat about the event, which bears witness to the

dynamism of the brewing industry both on the local and international scenes, as well as to Quebecers’ love of beer.

"We have just experienced an excellent edition of the festival, perhaps the best since 1994," said Jeannine Marois, founder and president of the festival.

“This augurs very well for the 15th edition next year. It’s a date!”

The Mondial de la bière took place from May 30 to June 3, at Windsor Station and Courtyard. More than 375 products were on offer, of which 166 were

new, which makes the 14th edition of the Mondial de la bière a standout for both the number of new products and the variety of products to choose

from. The event is a festival for beer lovers, but which also attracts those seeking good times and fans of culinary adventure.

Among the exhibitors, Sleeman Unibroue stole the show, with five winning beers in the MBeer contest and the bronze medal in the consumer beer

contest. "We are completely blown away by these honours. Festival-goers are relaxed and the ambience is warm. What a great time!" said Stéphane

Berranger, brand manager at Unibroue. The founder and brewmaster of Lièvre microbrewery, Jonathan Sabourin, considers the 2007 festival an

excellent one. "Participants are more oriented towards tasting than consumption, and we note that they are more and more interested in darker beers

such as reds and coppers," said Sabourin. For his part, Jean-François Gravel, founder and brewmaster of brewpub Dieu du Ciel!, chose to highlight the

evolution of taste among Québecers which has been happening for several years. "Festival visitors are much more open, and also more daring, in their

choice of beer. You can tell, since our morel beer (mushroom beer) was a big hit!"

the Mondial de, today closed a 14th edition crowned with success. Despite sometimes intemperate weather, nearly 85,000 people visited the festival site and
