More than 400 runners and a slew of sponsors helped Dogfish Head raise $10,000 for The Nature Conservancy at this year's Dogfish Dash. The second annual 5K/10K run attracted runners from across the Cape Henlopen region and from as far away and Michigan, Connecticut , West Virigina, Florida and New York. "Runners were certatinly enticed by the mission to support goals of The Nature Conservancy," explains Dogfish Head Vice President Mariah Calagione, "but the picture-perfect weather and the fantastic post-race party were also a draw! We are extremely happy with the race-day turnout and the wonderful sponsor support that allowed us to reach the ten thousand dollar mark."

The Mission of The Nature Conservancy is to preserve the plants, animals, and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth by protecting the lands and waters they need to survive. Since 1994, The Nature Conservancy has helped protect more than 29,000 acres of natural lands in Delaware, including six Conservancy-owned preserves totaling approximately 6,000 acres. Kate Hackett, Director or Land Protection for TNC was on hand for the race, "it was a great opportunity to see so may different types of people from children to senior citizens supporting the event while at the same time enjoying a wonderful, glorious location."
