Dogfish Head founder Sam Calagione recently addressed brewers at the first ever Scandinavian Brewers Conference in Grimstad, Norway.

Brewers from Norway, Denmark, Finland, and Sweden gathered at the conference to share ideas. Dogfish's Calagione was one of four speakers to address the crowd. Sam spoke from the small brewery perspective about the growing craft beer scene in the United States. Other speakers included Daniel Shelton from Shelton Brothers Importers, Paul Corbett from Charles Farem (a hops broker), and Alan Dikty from Allied Beverage Tank (brewing equipment).

"The craft beer scene is still small, but growing in Scandanvia," reported Calagione, "the brewers there are making great beer and their customers are embracing it."

"It was an honor to be asked to speak at the first-ever Scandanavian Brewers Conference," says Calagione, "I hope to visit again in a few years and enjoy the successes of these fine brewers."

Conference attendees were also treated to two wonderful beer-paired meals prepared by chef Hans Petter Klemmetsen. A 4-course luncheon was served at the Nogne O brewery. After the group was transported by boat to a beautiful boathouse, Klemmetsen prepared an 8-course feast featuring the seafood of south eastern Norway.
