What started in 2017 as a weekly jam night in coastal Delaware between five bluegrass musicians has morphed into a traditional five-piece bluegrass band. Homestead Bluegrass credits their roots and influence to the early bluegrass pioneers, such as Jimmy Martin and Bill Monroe, but they also enjoy pushing the boundaries of progressive style bluegrass, country and classic rock. Members include Dawn Thompson (upright bass, vocals), Shawn Rineholt (mandolin, vocals), Don Schalter (guitar, vocals) and Casey Kenton (banjo).

The music. The food. The beers. The stories. Last year we hosted a beer experience of epic proportions to celebrate our longtime collaboration with the Grateful Dead. Archivist and legacy manager of the Grateful Dead, David Lemieux, joined Dogfish Head founder Sam Calagione on stage for an unforgettable night that’s gone down in Dogfish history. Since then, fans have been asking for an encore, and we’re excited that David is ready to take on round two!

Join us on Friday, Feb. 28 at 7:00 p.m. for the Everything Delightful Dogfish Dinner at Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats.

Guests will enjoy a four-course experience complete with Grateful Dead inspired dishes (curated by our Brewings & Eat kitchen team and David), a myriad of off-centered libations and live music by High Tied Sideshow – central Pennsylvania’s favorite Grateful Dead cover band.

Dogfish Head founder Sam Calagione will lead the beer experience, fielding questions from guests, along with David Lemieux and Dogfish Head brewer Mark Safarik.

In addition, guests will witness history as David will share an unreleased Grateful Dead playlist directly from the vault.

Tickets are $90 (per person*), and include four courses, four complementary brews, an exclusive event glass AND a special event poster signed by David himself, along with some other delightful surprises along the way.
*Ticket price includes glass, poster and gratuity.

Y U B Sooo Extra?

Let’s get the ‘Leap Day’ party started! Stop by our Milton Tasting Room & Kitchen on Saturday, February 29 for a taste of our special, draft-only Leap Day release – Y U B Sooo Extra?

An extra beer for an extra day! Y U B Sooo Extra? is a hazy double IPA with all the extra hops for all the dank and juicy tones to wile away your Leap Day. It was brewed with a base of pilsner malt, naked oats and white wheat for a crackery malt backbone to balance the abundance of hops. Heaps of Citra, Cashmere, Azacca and Bru-1 hops provide an intense tropical fruit and citrus nose, and a dangerous drinkability.

Grab a pint, a growler or a crowler of this ‘once-in-four-years’ beer and raise a glass to Leap Day 2020!

Cathy Jane

Cathy Jane, an acoustic folk singer-songwriter living in coastal Delaware, blends a love of American folk and early country with soothing vocals, raw guitar and percussion using a suitcase kick drum. Growing up in rural southwestern Pennsylvania (in a place called Scrubgrass Hollow) listening to her parents band playing country, folk and gospel music, she naturally gravitated towards this style, while teaching herself to play guitar. Upon venturing out on her own as a solo artist at age 58, she set a goal to record an EP before she turned 60. On September 2, 2018, Cathy Jane debuted her EP titled 'Back Home,' just three weeks before her birthday. Her voice has been described as "a sweet pure feminine voice with the slightest folksy twang." Cathy Jane's music has been influenced by artists such as Gillian Welch, Emmylou Harris, Kate Wolf, Eilen Jewell, Bob Dylan and John Prine. Stop by on Saturday, February 29 from 6-9 p.m. and give her a listen!

Lauren Calve Band

Known for her strong, soulful vocal style and skillful playing, Lauren Calve began her career by attending open mic nights at a well-loved, but now defunct Arlington, Virginia live music haven. Seeing her perform may remind you of Patty Griffin’s dynamic voice, Bonnie Raitt’s smoky aura and Ben Harper’s unique slide style. A former nominee for the Washington Area Music Association’s ‘Best Roots Rock Vocalist,’ Lauren’s musical compositions find their ground in the tried and true sounds of Americana … but their strength lies in their innovative melodies, structures and arrangements.
