Dogfish Dash raises $38,500 for The Nature Conservancy

Saturday, September 29, 2012

Thanks to the runners, volunteers and sponsors of the 2012 Dogfish Dash, we raised $38,500 for the Delaware chapter of The Nature Conservancy on Sunday. That makes for a total of about $150,000 over the past few years. Woo-hoo!

dashMariah and Sam Calagione present a check for $38,500 to Richie Jones of the Delaware chapter of The Nature Conservancy.

A record 2,000 people were on hand to run the 5K and 10K courses through tiny Milton, Del., and hundreds more were here to cheer them on.

Post-race, we had an ala carte breakfast and keg after keg of 60 Minute IPA, Shelter Pale Ale and Indian Brown Ale to help everyone recover. Live Music, a Recycled Costume Competition and Keg Sprints kept things lively. There was even a marriage proposal at the finish line!

Congratulations to the 5K winner, Greg Cauller, 52, of Wilmington, with a time of 18:08, and the first female, Lynn Knothe, 35, of Wilmington, who crossed the line at 19:58.

The 10K winners were Jeff Powers, 29, of Wilmington, with a time of 33:14, and Karrie Stewart, 26, of Lexington Park, Md., with a time of 40:52.

dash3This crew ran the whole 5K in a life-size six-pack. The might not have won the race, but they took the costume competition by storm. Congrats!
