La Saison des Fraises, or “strawberry season” in French, is a Belgian Style Saison brewed with local strawberries and rhubarb from our friends over at Fifer Orchards. We were able to squeeze this one in right at the end of strawberry season. Brewed with pilsner, wheat, and acidulated malts, and then delicately hopped with earthy Czech Saaz, and fermented along with the fruit by Saison yeast originating from France. This tart dry ale is perfect for hot summer days, just as Saison would have been enjoyed by the Belgian field workers of centuries past. A nice malt flavor with subtle hints of strawberry, accompanied by gentle acidity derived from the acidulated malt and rhubarb. As the description suggests this beer would be best paired with lighter fair, going best with veggies and/or fish.
