Diane is a hoppy dark ruby hued saison style ale. The seven different types of malt used in this beer lend a rich nutty malt backbone that finishes dry and clean without cloying sweetness. Three varieties of hops were added to this brew: Warrior, Amarillo, and Saaz, which give Diane a mix of citrus and spicy herbal hop notes. Roughly a pound of fresh hops grown right outside in our hop garden were also added to this brew. Finally two yeast strains were employed to ferment the beer, both our own Doggy yeast and a classic Farmhouse Saison strain, which added light fruit and subtle spice notes. The result is like Belgian Saison meets English Dark Mild, a highly quaffable ale with both the malty and hoppy notes like that of the famous ales from the Mother Country and the fruity spice notes of classic Farmhouse ales. Diane is a great pairing with any of our Great Beginnings, a burger, or the Short Rib entrée.
