Dogfish Head sponsors Philadelphia's Major League Bocce

Wednesday, October 17, 2012

After getting to know the kindred spirits of Philadelphia's Major League Bocce, Dogfish Head Craft Brewery has jumped on-board as the official beer sponsor.

Dogfish recognized a little of its own DNA in the league -- both are fueled by grassroots growth, both require a team effort, and of course, both love beer.

"Sponsoring the Philadelphia league was a natural fit," said Dogfish Head President and Founder Sam Calagione. "We have two regulation-size bocce courts right out in front of our brewery. My love of bocce stems partially from the fact that it's a sport you can play with a pint glass in your hand and partly from the fact that it's a game that requires teamwork."

Major League Bocce provides an environment where participants can gather, socialize and try a new experience. The league provides an opportunity for Philadelphia residents to enjoy one of Europe's oldest sporting traditions and celebrate their inner Italian.

Members of the league can enjoy discounted drafts of 60 Minute IPA and other off-centered ales at the Field House, located at 1150 Filbert St. in Center City.
