We're off to Ohio to hang out with our friends at the Samuel Adams Taproom in Cincinnati! On Wednesday, Sept. 20, we'll be “Drinking in Mother Nature” with a sustainability-focused happy hour, beer tasting and discussion featuring special guests:
- Dogfish Head Craft Brewery Founder & Brewer, Sam Calagione
- Samuel Adams Cincinnati Taproom Head Brewer, Chris Siegman
- The Boston Beer Company’s Sr. Manager of Sustainability, Jill Westra
Sam, Chris and Jill will discuss Boston Beer’s sustainability journey and the environmental impact of brewing with sustainable, carbon-reduced inputs, like unmalted barley, drought-resistant hops, organic malts, regeneratively grown herbs and more. We'll also be showcasing a tasting flight of four special beers, each demonstrating a unique approach to taking climate action using sustainable inputs.
-
Samuel Adams Tractor Beer (4.2% ABV): This American Light Lager was created with sustainability in mind. Utilizing drought-resistant hops and unmalted barley, the ingredients of this beer are less processed and therefore use less energy. The resulting beer is bready, crisp, and sessionable.
-
Samuel Adams Unmalted Lager (4.4% ABV): This highly sessionable American Light Lager is brewed using 51% unmalted barley and 49% organic pilsner malt. It is then gently hopped with organic Contessa hops for a beer that’s light, bright and refreshing.
-
Dogfish Head The Most Comfortable Logger In The Woods (5.0% ABV): A Vienna-style Golden Lager, this pale lavender-colored beer is brewed with wild Maine blueberries, organic Maine-grown ginger and turmeric, and organic and regeneratively grown sage, also from Maine. The resulting beer is earthy and slightly tart with notes of wild berries, ginger and savory herbs.
-
Dogfish Head Re-Gen-Ale (8.5% ABV): Hazy-gold in color, this Double IPA is brewed with all regeneratively grown grains, including pilsner malt, heirloom black rye and organic crystal naked oats. The addition of organic Eureka, Strata and El Dorado hops lend fruity layers of tropical berries and melon, complemented by aromas of watermelon, strawberry and mango.
