The Nature Conservancy
The Delaware Chapter of The Nature Conservancy is up to some pretty amazing work, right here in our backyard!
The Edward H. McCabe Preserve features a wide range of habitats, plants and animals and a public access trail (approx. 3 miles long). The trail is accessible from the preserve parking area, or if you’re feeling adventurous, you can arrive by canoe or kayak at the McCabe Preserve dock from the boat launch in the town of Milton.
The Pemberton Forest Preserve includes a 908-acre Ponders Tract which features a variety of trail loops, ranging from .7 to 4 miles in length.
The Ponders Tract Trail system was a former logging site. Now, thanks to the stewardship of the Nature Conservancy, the land boasts an increasingly diversified forest community, supporting migratory bird populations.
