About The Dash

About The DASH

Dogfish Dash has been our way of “running for nature” for many years. The Dash was originally a 5K and a 10K that began and finished at Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats in Rehoboth, Beach, DE. The original beneficiary in 2006 was The Ocean Conservancy, and just over 200 runners came out to support. The race continued in Rehoboth Beach in 2007 and 2008, however the Delaware Chapter of The Nature Conservancy was designated as the beneficiary (think globally, act locally was the guiding thought here). The race field grew significantly over the years, and the Dash moved locations in 2009 to Milton, DE, home of Dogfish Head Craft Brewery. The event continued as a 5K and 10K through 2014. 2015 and 2016 each saw over 2500 registered runners, and over 2,200+ Dashers participated in the new off-centered distance of 8K (4.97 miles).

Since 2007 the Dogfish Dash has generated over $499,500 dollars for the Delaware Chapter of The Nature Conservancy.
2016 - $100,000
2015 - $120,000
2014 - $75,000

The Nature Conservancy

The Edward H. McCabe Preserve features a wide range of habitats, plants and animals and a public access trail (approx. 3 miles long). The trail is accessible from the preserve parking area, or if you’re feeling adventurous, you can arrive by canoe or kayak at the McCabe Preserve dock from the boat launch in the town of Milton.

The Pemberton Forest Preserve includes a 908-acre Ponders Tract which features a variety of trail loops, ranging from .7 to 4 miles in length.

The Ponders Tract Trail system was a former logging site. Now, thanks to the stewardship of the Nature Conservancy, the land boasts an increasingly diversified forest community, supporting migratory bird populations.
