We're so proud to announce the the readers of the American Homebrewers Association magazine have voted Dogfish Head Craft Brewery the top Brewery and Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA the number one ranked beer!
Editors at Zymurgy received more than 1,100 votes for 618 different beers from 293 brewers across the country for their annual Readers Choice poll.
In terms of the beer rankings, the magazine ranked 45 of the top beers. Four Dogfish beers made the list - 90 Minute IPA (#1), 60 Minute IPA (tied at #4), and Dogfish Head Raison D'Etre which tied with Dogfish WorldWide Stout for 27th place.
The brewery rankings were based on total votes received by each brewery's beers - Dogfish Head took top honors.
As the editors of Zymurgy wrote.... "Very cool!" responded Dogfish Head founder and CEO Sam Calagione when told about the survey results. "We've been brewing 90 Minute for going on eight years now.... Who would have thorught eight years ago that a brewery in coastal Delaware could sell thousands of cases of 90 IBS, 9-percent abv beer a week?"
"We would not be here today if it were not for the thriving homebrew community," adds Calagione. "Dogfish got its start with homebrewing more than twelve years ago, " Calagione explains, "like homebrewers, we enjoy contstantly pushing the envelope of what beer can be.... to be selected as the top beer by the community of homebrewers is really an amazing honor."
In addition to complete results for this year's Reader's Poll, the July/August 2007 issue of Zymurgy magazine also includes a homebrew recipe for a clone of Dogfish Head's Raison D'Etre beer.
