After scouring my local merchants and every site on-line, I heard the good news that the best beer I've EVER had, has reached year-round status. That will keep me from having to write that ugly letter to Dogfish brewers. Does anyone know when this epic event begins?

The last case of Burton I was able to buy (bottles stamped "Bottled on 10/19/11") tastes like absolute crap. It does not live up to the Burton Baton name. I noticed they have changed the labels from "An oak-aged Imperial India Pale Ale" to "An ale flavored with oak staves". Don't know if this has anything to do with the taste...I imagine it would, since aging beer in oak is completely different than flavoring an ale with oak staves...but, if this is the new recipe for Burton when it goes full time, it looks like I am done with Burton. Which is a crying shame, as this used to be my favorite of the Dogfish brews...
I bought a case of this most recent batch as well. I didn't notice the label change because I had just run out of the three cases I purchased at the end of '10. I wouldn't say it tastes like crap, but I have to concur that it does not have the same Oak and English Ale tastes that I so admire in Burton Baton.
Burton Baton has been my favorite brew for about the last three years because of those flavors. I hope this is simply related to this batch and is not an indication of a permanent change.
On the plus side - if it is indeed becoming a year-round brew that will eliminte my need to hoard it and I would expect to find it on tap more often - very good news.
Thanks, Dawson. Burton goes year-round in 2012.
You're still not sending enough for us thirsty Texans. Will it ever reach production status of your other year-rounders? I still can't get my hands on another one!
If not, do you know any on-line retailers that handle it?
