Hey All,
New to the community, and thanks for having me! I am an avid lover of Dogfish head brews, but I've not yet had the chance to check out one of their restaurants. A friend of mine told me of a new location opening up RIGHT next to my house, in Fairfax, VA, which would be amazing news :) :) I was wondering if anyone here could point me in the direction of proposed locations, so I might verify this information for myself. As you might imagine, to learn of this would make me very very happy!
Thanks in advance for the help! Drink on! (of course if you're somewhere out in the middle of the atlantic where it's noon ;) )

IS Aug 18, 2009. I dont know why theyve been so blaise about promoting this. i had to drive up to it and one of the newly hired staff members told me. you would think theyd atleast post this on the website or the front door to generate some buzz for it
that i've found is the onionrings/chips/frenchfries appetizer at the alehouses rules and I'm always sad that it doesnt exist at the brewpub.
can't wait for the chantilly/fairfax/rt50 to open! falls church seems so far away sometimes :)
DFH is taking over an existing restaurant in the Total Wine plaza...
We have our original location, Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats (brewery, distillery, pub) in downtown Rehoboth Beach, DE. We also have a small pub in the works at our Milton, DE brewery (current plan is to open in Spring of 2010).
In addition, a separate restaurant group owns and operates 2 (soon to be 3) Dogfish Head Alehouses in the DC area. First location was Gaithersburg, MD and second location is Falls Church, VA. They are currently working to open a third Dogfish Head Alehouse in Chantilly, VA by early summer.
It is wonderful to hear of the third (and seemingly final if I read your last reply correctly) Dogfish Head Alehouse being opened next to my house. They finally have the signs up as I was driving past there yesterday, and it says they are to be opened in May. I cannot wait!! :)
Hi, what's the difference between the original and the alehouses? I frequent the Gaithersburg location. And when I say frequent, I mean frequently. Is the beer any different? A friend said the Midas Touch served in Rehoboth is more salty than sweet when compared to our local kegs. Is he crazy? Are the alehouses directly supplied by Rehoboth?
The main difference between the original Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats (downtown Rehoboth Beach) and the Dogfish Head Alehouses (currently in Gaithersburg, MD and Falls Church, VA) is that the Rehoboth Beach brewpub is owned and operated by Dogfish Head and the Alehouses are owned & operated by a separate entity. The Alehouse group loves Dogfish and approached us with the idea of licensing the Dogfish name/idea to allow them to open separate Dogfish Head Alehouses. The Alehouses get their beer, just like any other account that sells Dogfish, through the distribution system that services their area. That beer comes from the Milton brewery. We think the Alehouse concept is a great one and that it's working, but some of the regulators that govern the alcohol industry don't necessarily agree. Due to that concern, our licensing agreement will be limited to the two existing Dogfish Head Alehouses and 1 more (Chantily, VA, slated to open summer 2009).
Is it possible for others to open a DFH Alehouse? we could really use one on the west coast
What is it that the regulators don't like?
Let's just say I frequent the Falls Church location way too often. ;) It's my favorite restaurant in the area.
I don't really remember the difference with the one in Rehoboth as I was only there once before the Falls Church location opened.
By the way, bring back Prescription!!
Just a heads-up .... we opened in Fairfax, VA. last Tuesday !!
DFH bartender, Fairfax, VA.
