Hey guys,
I recently had a get together at my house for New Years where I asked everyone to bring over a "fine beer' to enjpy so that we could all try new things. I advised I would be making chili with toppings for everyone to enjoy. Well after looking over a few recipes that I went through, I created my own and have pasted a recipe below. I made it twice in a week and it was delicious and didnt last.
Ingredients:
---------------
- (3) white onions, chopped
- (5) garlic cloves, minced
- (4) jalapenos, chpped
- (1) Brown beer (I used Indian Brown Ale)
- (1) cup of coffee
- (1) LB of ground beef
- (1) LB of sirloin cubed
- (1) 14oz can of diced tomatoes
- (2) cans tomato paste
- (2) cans red kidney beans
- (1) can beef broth
- (2) Tbls chili powder
- (2) Tbls red pepper
- (2) Tbls black pepper
- (2) Tbls unsweetend cocoa powder
- (2) Tbls cayenne pepper
- (2) Tbls cumin
- (1) Tsp Salt
Steps:
------------
1) Brown the beef together and drain extra fat.
2) In sauce pot, sautee together onions, jalapenos, and garlic so that it is soft. and mix the beef in.
3) Add the rest of the ingredients and mix and simmer for an hour and a half or as long as you like for your preference of thickness.
I served it with jalapeno corn pancakes and it was amazing! Had a good sweetness from the chocolate and a good balance of heat from the beer, coffee, jalapeno and spices
