I've had a number of fine kegs on my kegerator, but just decided to splurge on a 1/6 of 60 minute. It has been my experience that 1/6 barrels are actually slightly more expensive than buying cases (which I also don't understand), but my 60 minute was over the top! What gives? Am I getting hosed by my retailer? Seriously, I've never payed more than $40 for a case of 60 (including tax, which is quite high (9%, IIRC) in MD, etc etc.) List price is usually around $36.
$40/case x 2 cases + $10/sixer = 54 beers for $90 with tax.
1/6 barrel = 5.16 gallons = 660.48 oz = 55 beers - for $115 with tax
For the record, I often get 1/6 barrels of other fine craft beers for about $80 + tax -
What gives?

to be clear, I have no problem that dogfish costs more than other beers, but the already silly markup from case price to 1/6 keg price seems far more dramatic.
