I'm sure it's not because they want to keep the beer out of your hands, or be mean, or keep the yuppies happy alone.
There are a number of reasons why they are doing what they are doing, only a few can I touch on.
It's simple economics. There's only so much production available, and they sell out quicker than they can make it. Shipping it half way across the country makes no sense when there is closer demand that can be filled.
This is oddly good news. It means Dogfish is not going to become a mega corporation so they can dump millions of barrels on the market and dilute the Dogfish standards in doing so. Respect them for controlling their growth rate, don't condemn them for it.
I just left my local packy. I could not find any DFH in the usual spot. I was looking for Palo Santo for the weekend. So, I asked the girl and she pointed me to the close out rack, told me they weren't selling in RI anymore. I dropped about a buck and a quarter to stock up on a variety.
I came straight here when I got back home. If this is a corporate decision I'm totally pissed at this company. WTF!! Why screw us when all we want to do is give you our money and enjoy your beer. Damn, I even planned a vacation around your pub in DE a couple years back. If this is a corporate decision like I just read in a post, then forget my alternate plan of driving to Yankee Spirits in Attleboro, MA to buy, you can piss off!
that's the word from DFH. Please see my other post on the original topic of them dropping several states. I am ashamed to be a loyal DF buyer knowing they have turned their back on the other original buyers to feed the new yuppie crowd. It seems like a piss poor decision for a company built by those of us consumers who purchased the fish beer before it was a on a damn tv show and sucked up by new drinkers who wouldn't know a good beer if it was dropped on their head.
