Its a great beer! I had it for the first time at a bar out of a snifter and thought it was fabulous. I went out and bought a four pack in the hopes that I could save one or two and age....that didnt last long. Drank em all haha
I have one left from a four pack I bought. I got a headache twice after drinking only one. Anyone else get a headache? I've had high alcohol content beers before, so I don't think that is it. I don't know.
I was just reading reviews over on Beer Advocate - amazing praises for this beer so I have to conclude that statistically speaking we both may have gotten "some bad bottles". Mine smelled like glue and tasted a bit like it too. I let it sit for a bit determined to give it a fair shot but after a few more small sips I had to give up and the headache came soon after and I hadn't even consumed 4 oz of the stuff so it was not the booze that was bringing on the headache, it felt like the kind of headache you get when you use way too many cleaning products in a small/confined space. My guess is somewhere along the journey to the west coast it was stored improperly or something so my next trip back East I will see if I can find a bottle closer to the source.
i found it a very cherry sweet, oaky wooded, very heavy beer. it is in the catagory of that of a dessert wine. great for those who like just one or two beers.
Tried for the first time early this summer. Was very smooth and I wonder if the four pack hadn't been sitting on the shelf for awhile. Had it again last weekend and was surprised by the difference in flavor. I could smell and taste the wood. I've since picked up two - four packs with the plans of cellering them for a year, maybe two!

My wife and I love Palo. We are letting a case age in the cellar right now. Age makes a huge difference.
I have two left from my last four pack I bought- they will also be aged for 6 months/1 year, respectively
had this at the DFH restaurant recently and it immediately became my favorite beer
so amazing!!!
I found a bottle at a local specialty beer store here in MI that was bottled in 2008 as well. Absolutley incredible.
TRUE THAT!!!
I was able to pick up a bottle a few weeks ago and was very pleased with what I experienced.
