Hot Hazel is the latest beer to make its way through the ranks of our co-Worker Small Batch Brewing Program we have here at Dogfish. This black-as-night beer was created by the Sales team, who won waayyyyyyy back in January of 2012, but weren’t all gathered back here in Southern DE as a group until the beginning of 2013, when we brewed it here at the pub.
Hot Hazel lies somewhere between a Robust Porter and Foreign Export Stout, brewed with Dried Organic Chipotle peppers, Hazelnuts, and Askinosie Cocoa powder. Huge notes of bittersweet chocolate with hints of burnt sugar, a slight nuttiness, and a burn that is hard to notice at first, but builds as you sip. A perfect tipple for these short Delaware Coast winter days and long, chilly nights.
Hot Hazel will be tapped on Monday, January 28, 2013 and will be available until it is all gone.
