Earth Day-ish Events We're Celebrating

Saturday, April 17, 2010

We're recognizing Earth Day with a few special events this week - join us!

On Wednesday, April 21 we have two events we'll be participating in.

First up, we'll join with the fine folks from The Nature Conservancy's Delaware Chapter for the Grand Opening and Dedication of the Ponders Tract Trails at the Pemberton Forest Preserve just outside Milton, Delaware on Wednesday afternoon. As many of you know - we've partnered with The Nature Conservancy on our Dogfish Dash for the past few years and with the help of great sponsors a runners from around the country, we've been able to donate nearly $50,000 to TNC-DE! We'll add to that total with the 2010 Dogfish Dash (registration now open!). The Ponders Trails include nearly 13 miles of trails for all of us to enjoy. Wednesday's grand opening is open to the public and will include an opportunity to hike the trails. Clickhere to register for the free event, get all the details.

Later on Wednesday, the Dogfish Head Beer & Benevolence program will be hosting a fundraiser for the MERR Institute at our downtown Rehoboth Beach brewpub. The MERR Institute is the local organization that gets the call when a marine animal is stranded on the shore of coastal Delaware. So far this year, the MERR team has handled calls for a beached Fin Whale, lots of calls for stranded seals and more. In additon, MERR conducts research on marine species, and does education and outreach programs for school and groups. The Wednesday, 4/21 event at Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats includes live music and a raffle for a hand-crafted Alaia surfboard. Volunteers from MERR will be on-hand to share information about what they do and how you can help. Click here for more details.

On Saturday, April 24th we're supporting the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Historic Lewes Farmers Market. The market, one of our local faves, is a producer-only market in downtown historic Lewes, DE. It runs from Memorial Day through the beginning of October. This weekend, the market organizers will be holding their popular HLFM Hoedown with fabulous live music, finger lickin good eats, and all the wine, beer (that's us!), and sasparilla you can throw back. For more information about the HLFM, visit their website.

Hope to see you at one of these events this week.
